Andrew Long came to Guelph in 1994 to follow his hockey career as a member of the Guelph Storm. During his time with this club, Andrew became an OHL Champion, an OHL All-Star, and was even drafted by the Florida Panthers. He played professional hockey for 6 seasons with the Panthers organization, serving time in Georgia, Kentucky and even Florida for 4 years. The man, who co-captained the Guelph Storm to the successful playoff run that lead to their first OHL Championship in 1988, made a clear decision in 2005. It was time to move on with his life and step into a new chapter. According to Andrew, it was the perfect time for him to experience the real world and pursue a new career in another industry, considering the fact that he was only 25 years old.
Soon after retiring from hockey, Long co-founded the real estate team DiLoreto & Long. In his first full year of real estate, Andrew was the recipient of the Canadian Diamond society, which was apparently only the start of his success. Since than he has received many other rewards and has now been placed among the top 5 realtors in Canada by Coldwell Banker.
His vast list of happy clients includes many former members of the Guelph Storm, and most notably some popular NHL players. However, simply helping families, and especially first time homebuyers find the home of their dreams is something that he is just as proud of.
Andrew’s success in the world of real estate has come from his own personal knowledge and investments in the local market. There is no doubt that many of the characteristics behind Long’s success on the ice, are now the driving force behind his real estate track record. Long often advises young athletes and motivates them to accomplish more in their life. He believes that when you show up to something you must give your maximum self in order to achieve the results you want! That advice should not just be followed with sports, it is how you need to tackle anything you do in life! There is a lot more in the world than just playing hockey or any other sport. There are great opportunities and Andrew Long is an excellent example that with hard work anything is possible!
Looking past both hockey and real estate, Andrew Long is a devoted father, and friend. He strives to get involved in many local charities, including his own organization the Andrew Long Charity Golf Tournament, which over the past 9 years has raised more than $75,000 for mental health.
